My daughter and I are changing our eating habits so we eat breakfast. (I know, I know--we know we really should have been doing that all along.) We've been making fridge oats so we have a healthful breakfast every morning. Fridge oats are uncooked oats you soak overnight in a bowl the refrigerator.

We've tried different oats--steel-cut, regular, thick, and then finally these. These work so well and have such a great texture that we feel we've found the perfect oats for our purpose.

Fridge oats recipe

1 cup oats (uncooked)
1/2 cup fluid (milk, water, almond milk...)
1 cup berries

Combine in a bowl or mason jar, then cover with plastic wrap and let sit overnight in the refrigerator.

Some people use yogurt instead of the fluid, or add nuts, sweetener, and other things. You can be creative too.

Oats are probably the healthiest grain there is, and oatmeal is the most common way to attain these healthy oats. Oatmeal also makes for a great tasting breakfast. I eat it every morning, with fruit and nuts added to it. And I try to eat organic whenever possible. So I was pleased to find this product available so cheaply on Amazon. Four bags last me a long time, so I don't have to order very often. And these oats taste just as good as the popular commercial brand.

Being in a bag rather than a box or carton is a small problem. I had mice get into a couple of bags! Those mice were caught with old-fashioned wooden traps, but I now store the bags in large Tupperware containers. To open a bag, I snip a corner off and close it with a small chip clip. So I am giving these oats four stars rather than five for the minor inconvenience of the bag.

As for why I say oats are the healthiest grain, see the chapter on "Whole Grains" in my

God-given Foods Eating Plan book. In it I cite many scientific studies showing "whole grains (especially oats) can improve blood lipid profiles and reduce heart disease risk." And my blood lipids have been just fine ever since I started eating oatmeal very morning.

Okay so in a world where big names dominate we ind Bob's Red Mill. This oatmeal is delicious, better than quaker can ever aspire AND ITS ORGANIC!! I do not follow the cooking directions but I will use 1/2 c of the oats, 1/2 tsp organic whipped butter in the bowl and add boiling water until it gets to a soupy consistency then add cinnamon and sugar to taste. I end up leaving it to sit for about 1 minute (while I fix everyone elses, lol) and when I sit down with my bowl I am in indigestible fiber haven. This is the best oatmeal I have ever eaten. Add raisins or 1 teaspoon of ground flax seeds or even a chopped banana for variety and ENJOY!!

My entire family eats oatmeal in the morning and I was thrilled to find a relatively inexpensive organic bulk option. we get these subscribe and save every month to save an additional 15%. We go through all 3 bags in a month, but we are a family of 6! They microwave very easily in ~3 minutes and cook well on the stove top too. We make them with water, milk and almond milk depending on who is eating and what their preference is (kids like milk, I prefer almond milk and my hubby like water!). It all yields delicious oatmeal, ready to eat alone or to doctor up with cinnamon and fruit!

I like eating oatmeal and especially organic. I use to buy at Henry's in bulk, but I don't have that option anymore. This was a great alternative for me as I have no access to Henry's anymore. I have purchased this product on Amazon for 15.80 and now the price is $11 more. There are other websites with much better prices, like Jet. But as far as this product is concerned, we eat this almost daily, great probiotics in oatmeal among other health benefits.

Love this product! There's nothing that I don't love about it. I have been buying it for several years. It's delicious, healthy, and really does cook to perfection in 3 minutes.

I SET my timer at 3.5 minutes, wait for the water to START to boil, THEN START the timer ... just before I stir in the oats. I turn down the temperature control (in increments) as it begins to bubble up; I stir it continuously until the timer goes off.

(Since I like my oatmeal on the thicker side, I pile up the oats a bit above measuring cup line.)

I store the opened package in the refrigerator (sealilng it well with a clip/clamp).

I use quick rolled oats in lieu of "instant oatmeal," because they allow me to add my own flavorings and limit the sugar I add to my oatmeal. Boiling water poured over the oats, stirred and allowed to sit for 1 to 2 minutes cooks the cereal adequately.

I also use these oats in oat bread, oatmeal cookies, and "no bake" oatmeal cookies, which are gluten free. The price per ounce is comparable to the price of quick oats of another major brand in the supermarket, and the flavor of this brand is better. I'll be adding these to my subscribe and save program.

Over the years I've tried just about every oatmeal there is (I'm 68). There is absolutely NOTHING that can come even close to Bob's Red Mill Organic Oats Rolled Quick Oats!! 1/3 cup in a bowl, 2/3 cup soy milk (I use vanilla), a bit of time in the microwave and ZAP! The creamiest, most tasty oatmeal you've EVER had!! I add some granola (Pumpkin Flax) on top for a bit of crunch too. Simply awesome!!
